calLALiLy BaNd ProFiLe

Photo Courtesy of Titik Pilipino.ComDon't be confused when you hear people talk about a flower, especially music lovers. When you hear them talk about Callalily, they are not referring to a flower of yellow spadix, instead they are talking about a band composed of young talented lads. They are Kean Cipriano, Alden Acosta, Tatsi Jamnague, Aaron Ricafrente, and Lemuel Belaro, all of whom are still in college. The band is widely popular sa mga young lasses dahil aside from having exceptional singing and songwriting prowess, pogi din sila. That's what people have been saying, kaya nga Callalily is classified as a “Pogi Rock” band. But the band members can't agree more, because they believe that they can really sing. Hindi lang daw sila puro itsura.Anyway, in such a short span of time, ang bilis ng pagsikat ng banda. Within two years they were able to create such a huge fan base. So, what's with the band at bakit ganun na lang kadali ang trip nila to stardom? First, they're quite different because of the age. Most of the band members are still in their teens, if not, early twenties. Another thing is, as said earlier, lahat sila nag-aaral pa. No wonder why many people know them instantly.Callalily was formed after Kean and Tatsi joined a Battle of the Bands competition in Pateros. As they were practicing, nagutom si Kean at bumili ng tinapay. He then asked the baker what's the name of the bread. Sabi ng panadero, “Calla Lily.” That gave Kean the idea of using “Calla Lily” as their band's name for the main reason na masarap daw kasi yung tinapay. Kean and Tatsi pushed through with the band. When they were able to close a gig at Mayric's Bar, naghanap at nagpa-audition sila for other members. Nakuha nila si Aaron (Kean's friend), then Alden and Lemuel were just added through an audition. The three completed the band and made the Mayric's gig a success. Callalily considers their performance with 6 Cycle Mind as their ticket to fame dahil doon sila nadiscover ni Darwin Hernandez (band's manager). With their potential as good musicians, they landed a contract with Sony BMG and the rest as they say is history. Because of Callalily, now we get to hear chock-full songs such as Stars, Pasan, Magbalik, Take My Hand, and the latest which is Sanctuary. Pero reminder lang: listen to the band for the reason na you want to hear their songs, hindi dahil gwapo lang sila -it's simply an add-on.
